Welcome to Hope, bob moss

To the Search Committee and the Congregation of Hope Community Church,

I enthusiastically accept the invitation of Hope Community Church to be your Senior Pastor. Our

candidating weekend together at Hope was a warm confirmation of what a wonderful church

family you are. It will be my privilege to be your pastor and servant-leader beginning July 2018.

Renée and I thank you for the tremendous warmth and hospitality you have already extended

to us!

Gratefully,

Pastor Moss

Introducing pastor bob moss

Bob Moss is an energetic leader and communicator dedicated to introducing others to the transforming love of Jesus Christ. A hallmark of his ministry is his deep love for people expressed through a pastor’s heart. Pastor Moss has served in pastoral ministry for over thirty-five years.

Bob is a veteran pastor in the Church of God family. His name is recognized as one who has served in a number of different regions of the country, including congregations in Washington, Wyoming, Michigan, and Ohio. He has developed meaningful relationships with many pastors across the Church of God and has walked with many as a coach and mentor. He is a frequent guest speaker at state assemblies, conferences, and pastors’ gatherings.

In addition to Bob’s heart for pastors, he has been at the forefront of change and growth at the regional and national church. He served as the executive state minister for the 150 congregations in Indiana and led with distinction as a two-term chairman of the North American General Assembly of the Church of God. Internationally, his ministry has extended to India, Paraguay, Lebanon, Germany, and Hungary.

Bob’s commitment to the kingdom of God is to live as a follower of Christ. “In reading Scripture, there was a phrase in the New Testament that called out to me. ‘But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives’ (Phil. 3:20 NLT).” Reading this phrase gave Bob a new inspiration and a new way of looking at life. “I am a citizen of heaven, here on temporary assignment. I received a new identity and a new nature. It means that my greatest life goal is to make myself available to the Lord to do whatever work he gives me. It means I no longer live for my own purposes, but for his.”

Bob and Renée have been married for forty-one years. They have shared a lifetime of ministry together, extending love to people and congregations wherever they serve. They have raised three wonderful children who are now their best friends. Their son, Brandon, and his family live on the Oregon coast. Their daughter, Erin, becomes senior pastor at the Church of God in Alma, Michigan this summer. Their daughter, Deanne, and her family live in Royal Oak, Michigan. Bob and Renée are enjoying a new season of family life with eight grandchildren to love and enjoy!

Bob currently serves as an executive leader at Church of God Ministries in Anderson, Indiana. His responsibilities include oversight of an initiative called Project Imagine aimed at restructuring the national ministries of the Church of God. Advancement and church relations are also a part of his portfolio. He will be retained by Church of God Ministries in an ongoing consulting and fundraising role.

Bob expresses a deep love for Berrien County and southwestern Michigan. As a former pastor of First Church of God in St. Joseph, for fifteen years, he is well-acquainted with the culture, the ambiance, and the winters of Michigan’s great southwest! “This area feels more like ‘home’ than any place we’ve lived in our life of ministry. Our kids grew up, graduated and got married during the years we lived in this area.”
